The Hibiki 17 Year Old was Suntory’s benchmark for aged blended whisky—crafted to express wa (harmony) through meticulous cask selection. Consequently, it combined malts from Yamazaki and Hakushu with grain whisky from Chita into a seamless, elegant whole. Moreover, its balance made it a global favorite before its discontinuation in 2018.

Aged with Patience, Finished with Artistry

This blend included whiskies matured for at least 17 years, with a portion aged in rare Mizunara oak casks. In fact, the Hibiki 17 Year Old gained its signature sandalwood and incense notes from this native Japanese wood, layered over honeyed fruit and spice.

Deep, Silky, and Remarkably Refined

Bottled at 43% ABV, this expression delivered richness without weight. As a result, it wove together dried apricot, orange marmalade, and toffee with cinnamon, clove, and soft oak. Additionally, the extended aging created a waxy, luxurious texture that defined its premium character.

Tasting Experience

First, the nose reveals fig, beeswax, and yuzu, followed by vanilla, white pepper, and a whisper of sandalwood. Then, delicate floral notes emerge with air.
